Retro Fisco tape measure

Even the simplest things can make me smile. It never ceases to amaze me how even the smallest and most practical of objects can reflect the era they were designed in. Fisco are still manufacturing measuring tapes in England but the style has changed somewhat.

It looks like it is styled like the motorbikes and helmets of the 1970s. The gentle curves, primary coloured stripes and "uni-matic" all scream the era. If Evil Knievel or Captain America had a tape measure...

Typewriter with a surprise!

Just found this lovely pastel blue typewriter, okay, nice colour...

BUT...


it types in joined up writing!

It's an Olympia De Luxe typewriter from the sixties and the first I've seen in the flesh that has the cursive font. When I picked it up it was in a sorry state, living in an old suitcase, and after a few hours of cleaning it has come up okay.

I'll have to dig out the Olivetti Valentines I have hidden away and makes me pine for the Olivetti 22 and 32s I had last year.

This has, you may say unfortunately, re-ignited my love of typewriters and made me wish I could use one everyday but just can't think of a reason to. Sad times.
